The Last of Champlain Canal - La dernière partie sur le Canal Champlain

What a difference a day makes .. beautiful sunshine as we knock off the last of the 4 locks to get us to Troy NY and the Hudson River. A small oversight on my part as we head downriver ... I forgot to take the tide into consideration, yes there is a tidal influence 100+ miles up the Hudson River from the ocean. We push against a 1.5 to 2 knot current which drops our speed over ground below 5 knots - a snails pace when you motor all day! We make it the 46 miles to the Catskill River and Hop-O-Nose Marina just before nightfall, where the mast will go back up and we will become a sailboat again.
Oh yes ... all the work I did on the toilets yesterday ..... AAAARRRGGHHH still not right. I HATE WORKING ON TOILET PLUMBING!!!!! &^$(*@&^%

La dernière partie sur le Canal Champlain

Jeudi 20 septembre

  1. Merrill and Maryse,

Just want you to know that we are reading and living this vicariously with you... Until we can be sharing an anchorage with you again... Very soon I hope. And thanks for NOT sending photos of toiling on the toilet.

    Big big hugs,

    James and Chantal

So nice to be able to get news about you guys. We've spent this past week hoping things were going alright, what with the weather and all...
And if there's anyone who can show those toilets who's the boss, it's you!!!

    Hugs from us too,
